Organic and biodynamicThe Barbera d'Alba Superior by Giacomo Brezza is a red wine of medium structure and intensity, aged for 12 months in Slavonian oak barrels. On the nose, it expresses notes of ripe red fruit, wild mulberry, blackberries, mistletoe, ivy, and spices. On the palate, it is very lively and vital, persistent, and with elegant tannins.
The Barbera d'Alba Superiore by Brezza is a dynamic wine, with great structure and excellent aging potential. The winery expresses through its wines disarming simplicity and remarkable class. The company's policy regarding the use of glass corks in some entry-level wines, like this important Barbera, is interesting as they are suitable for aging over time.
The Barbera vines are trained in guyot on clay-sandy soils, the characteristic fossil Marne of Sant'Agata, and silty soils, at about 300 meters above sea level. The organic cultivation aims for an increasingly quality and respectful production. The work in the winery begins with the destemming and crushing of the grapes. The must is started to ferment in steel tanks with only indigenous yeasts and remains in contact with the skins for 8-10 days, then extended by a few days. Subsequently, the wine is kept at a controlled temperature until malolactic fermentation is completed. The aging involves a passage of 12 months in young Slavonian oak barrels.
The Barbera d'Alba Superiore is a wine characterized by a deep ruby red color, dark. On the nose, ripe red fruit emerges, with hints of wild mulberry and blackberries, a progression of spices on a vegetal background of mistletoe and ivy. On the palate, it is vital, with a beautifully bright drink accompanied by elegant tannins and finishes persistently. A pleasant confirmation.
