The Chardonnay from Cloudy Bay is a soft and full-bodied white wine from New Zealand, vinified and aged in barrels for 12 months. Notes of yellow fruit, citrus, honey, vanilla, and brioche emerge from a consistent and buttery texture, with warm and slightly smoky aromas.

The Chardonnay produced by the Cloudy Bay winery is described as ‘powerful and exotic’. It combines great finesse with a striking character. It can be fresh yet sunny, energetic while simultaneously delicate. It originates in the sun-drenched and iconic areas of Marlborough, New Zealand. The wines of Cloudy Bay encapsulate the traits of both land and sea, both of which would be incomplete without the other. This combination of elements translates into nectars played on balance and aromatic nuance.

Cloudy Bay Chardonnay comes to life from four vineyard parcels, located in four sub-regions: Brancott, Fairhall, Ben Morven, and the Central Wairau Valley. The soils in these areas are primarily clay and gravel-based, with excellent drainage capacity. Harvest takes place approximately in the second half of March. The grapes transported to the winery are gently pressed and the must is placed inside wooden barrels to spontaneously start, through indigenous yeasts, the alcoholic fermentation. A portion of the must is vinified in the presence of fine lees, so that they can enrich it in structure and personality. Once this phase is completed, it is followed by aging of about one year in French oak barrels.

The white Chardonnay from Cloudy Bay presents a delicate straw-yellow color to the eye. The aroma reveals fruity tones reminiscent of lemon and apple, along with floral notes of orange blossoms, set against a mineral background. On the palate, it confirms this trait, identifiable in a very intriguing smoky texture. It fits into a profile based on freshness and balance, as well as on the body and three-dimensionality of the tasting sensations. A characterful white that knows how to hypnotize the palate
