Falerno del Massico Bianco Villa Matilde 2024
The Falerno del Massico Bianco is made from pure Falanghina grapes, vinified and matured only in steel. The variety is cultivated on volcanic soils in one of the three estates of Villa Matilde, that of San Castrese. Intriguing scents of the sea, tropical fruits, almonds, and broom also linger on the palate, which is fresh, light, and savory.
The wine Falerno del Massico Bianco is a pure Falanghina that captivates with its Mediterranean profile, reminiscent of the Campanian coastline where the vineyards from which it originates grow. A product that is therefore exquisitely territorial, in which the influences of the sea breezes are felt in a mineral drink, very inviting. Villa Matilde, a winery where tradition, history, and a forward-looking perspective coexist in a unique flow of views, confirms its ability to express the terroir in light of native grape varieties, giving rise to a well-regarded Campanian white by important international industry magazines.
This Falerno del Massico Bianco is made from pure Falanghina grapes, cultivated by Villa Matilde within the Tenuta di San Castrese. Here, the soils are predominantly volcanic in origin, with ample components of phosphorus and potassium, and the vineyards are located at an altitude of about 140 meters above sea level, with plants cultivated using the guyot system. The grapes, harvested in the second decade of September, undergo cryomaceration, and then are gently pressed; the process then continues with the fermentation in steel for 20 days, at a controlled temperature of 10-12 degrees. Finally, we move on to the maturation phase, in which the wine rests in steel for three months, until bottling.
The Bianco Falerno del Massico develops in the glass with a typically straw-yellow color. On the nose, one perceives aromas that recall the sea and the Mediterranean scrub, enriched by more floral sensations. On the palate, it strikes with its fresh component, making the sip smooth, and for the savory taste, definitely enjoyable on the palate. A bottle that pairs wonderfully with seafood-based dishes and also pairs well with fresh cheeses and vegetarian risottos.
