The Friulano "Vigne Cinquant’anni" from the Vigne di Zamò winery is a version of particular richness and aromatic intensity of this historic white produced in the Colli Orientali. The old vines produce less grapes, but yield clusters with more concentrated aromas and greater complexity. Thanks to very deep roots, the vines nourish themselves deeply. In the rockier soil layers, they find precious resources of minerals and water to withstand even long periods of drought without suffering from water stress. For these reasons, the old vines are less sensitive to seasonal trends and consistently produce grapes of superior quality.
The "Vigne Cinquant’anni" Friulano is one of the flagship wines from one of the realities that has best interpreted the territory of the Colli Orientali and its rich heritage of traditions. Vigne di Zamò manages an estate of about forty hectares in the beautiful hilly area of Rosazzo, Buttrio, and Rocca Bernarda. The vines are protected by the Alpine chain by the cold winds descending from the northeast and enjoy the Mediterranean influence of the gentle breezes from the nearby Adriatic Sea. The soils are composed of marls of sandstones and limestone, the famous Flysch or ponca in Friulano, always very suited for the cultivation of white grape varieties. It is in this magnificent context that the Friulano finds the best conditions to express itself at high qualitative levels.
The "Vigne Cinquant’anni" from the Vigne di Zamò winery is a label that expresses the value of ancient plants, representing the perfect synthesis between grape variety and territory. It is an emblematic wine that combines the best varietal notes of the grapes with the added value of lands capable of uniquely and recognizably marking the profile of the wines. The clusters are pressed in oxygen protection and the must ferments in steel tanks at a temperature of 18-20 °C. The wine matures on the lees for about ten months and is bottled without racking. It completes the aging with a year in the bottle before being put on sale. In the glass, it has a color light yellow with slight golden hues. The aromatic profile is intense and complex, with aromas of ripe fruit, hints of citrus peel, floral and iodized nuances, and memories of medicinal herbs. The sip is deep and savory, with a remarkable aromatic intensity that leads to a harmonious and mineral finish. It is the true symbol of the territory in one of its best versions.
