Grechetto 'Poggio della Costa' Sergio Mottura 2023
Organic and biodynamicThe Grechetto "Poggio della Costa" is an exciting white wine with good structure. The aroma is broad and fruity: it ranges from notes of apple and pear to hints of aromatic herbs. The taste is well balanced, fresh, citrusy, and persistent.
The Grechetto “Poggio della Costa” is the son of an endless passion, that of Sergio Mottura. Piedmontese by origin and Laziale by vocation, he took the reins of the family business located in Civitella d’Agliano and brought it to high peaks of modernity and competence. The sincere love for the land and for wine has led Sergio to focus on the cultivation of native varieties, of which he has studied their identity in depth. Particular attention has been dedicated to Grechetto, a local grape variety that Sergio believes to be the most expressive of the territory. To capture every smallest nuance, Tenuta Mottura has identified and selected three different clones that give rise to three different wines. The territorial and varietal expression is maximized by a type of agriculture based on respectful use of natural resources, excluding chemical interventions.
“Poggio della Costa” is the name of the cru from which the Grechetto grapes come, harvested strictly by hand as is also the case for all the other varieties present at Mottura. Following a soft pressing and a cold decantation, the must undergoes alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks, where it will rest for a maturation of 6 months. Two additional months of resting in the bottle make it ready to be known and appreciated for its personality and structure.
The “Poggio della Costa” is a white wine with a pleasant fruity imprint and vaguely floral, with a profile defined by tropical fruit and yellow flowers. It is a wine of strong olfactory and taste impact, well supported by that vibrant freshness that makes it drinkable and enjoyable on any occasion. An excellent persistence allows this Grechetto to leave its mark with a long memory of itself. The pairing with food is multifaceted. In fact, there are those who assure that Poggio della Costa is the best Italian wine to pair with asparagus and not only…
