On the palate, it is sweet and enveloping, well-balanced by freshness and sapidity, with intense persistence.
"Il Longhino" by Dario Coos is a Ramandolo from Friuli, originating in Nimis, in the beautiful area of the Colli Orientali, right at the foot of the first hills of the Prealpi Giulie. It is a dessert wine with a great history and tradition, made with a vinification of the grapes from the native Verduzzo variety, after a period of appassimento in fruttaio. The Ramandolo is one of the best excellences in the field of passito wines and is particularly appreciated for the perfect balance between sweetness and pleasant final freshness, which gives momentum and vitality to the sip. Its enveloping aromas of candied fruit, ripe fruit, and delicate spices make it ideal to pair with dry pastries or a platter of aged or blue cheeses.
The Ramandolo "Il Longhino" takes its name from the vineyard of the estate from which the grapes come. The vines are cultivated on sunny terraces beautifully exposed to the south. The Dario Coos estate is located in the northern area of the Colli Orientali, in a region with a cool and always very breezy climate, thanks to the proximity of the mountains. The presence of soils particularly suited, made up of limestone marls and sandstones, allows for the production of high-quality grapes that ripen slowly with very intense aromatic profiles. The vineyards cover a total area of 13 hectares, set in an still unspoiled environmental context. The work in the winery is carried out carefully and meticulously, with a still artisanal care that expresses the most sincere and true face of this wonderful territory.
The dessert wine "Il Longhino" from the Friulian winery of Dario Coos is born from a manual harvest, with a selection in the vineyard of the best bunches. The grapes are placed in fruttaio to dry, in order to lose water and concentrate sugars and aromas. After the drying period, fermentation takes place in steel tanks. Before bottling, the wine rests in steel tanks for a few months. In the glass, it presents a golden yellow color with brilliant reflections. On the nose, it expresses ripe aromas of yellow fruit, citrus peel, candied fruit, and oriental spices. On the palate, it is soft and seductive, with intense aromas, harmonious and a finish of beautiful freshness and sapidity.
