The Extra Virgin Olive Oil from De Fermo is an organic oil produced in Loreto Aprutino, in the inland of Abruzzo, from the mono-cultivar Dritta or Lauretana. The De Fermo winery has owned a small and precious wine heritage since 1785, which for generations has learned to preserve and benefit from in the best possible way. Today, under the guidance of Elisa and Stefano, the love story between this land and this ancient generation of winemakers continues, who over the years have learned to respectfully embrace this fantastic territory and produce artisanal expressions of great vitality and strong territorial connotation. The De Fermo winery is also a 360-degree agricultural company, which, in addition to wine production, cultivates olive trees, cereals, legumes, and other products of the land. It is precisely from the old olive trees, which have resided for centuries on the estate, that an oil rich in character and aromaticity is produced, which with just a few drops can enhance the best dishes.
Loreto Aprutino is a small art town in the province of Pescara, intimately linked to olive trees and the production of extra virgin olive oil. It has been dubbed the "city of oil" because among the hills that surround the town, there have been countless olive groves for centuries, which tint the landscape with their bushy crowns of silvery green. The De Fermo winery has learned for generations that from the fruits of these irregular and gnarled shrubs, an oil of absolute excellence is obtained, which has achieved great success throughout the peninsula and beyond. The Dritta cultivar, abundantly present in this place, is the basis for oil production and is appreciated for its high and consistent productivity.
The Olio EVO De Fermo has a dense and viscous straw-yellow color, with bright greenish reflections. Green and vegetal notes of pepper, sage, Mediterranean scrub, and wild herbs intertwine with more bitter sensations and light spicy nuances. The tasting is soft, very aromatic and intense, with a long herbaceous note and a slightly spicy finish.
