Pinot Grigio Toros 2024
The Pinot Grigio from Toros is one of the most typical expressions of the Friulian Collio. With a bright straw yellow color, it emanates elegant notes of hazelnut, yellow fruit, and aromatic herbs. On the palate, it expands elegantly, maintaining freshness, intensity, and structure.
The Pinot Grigio from Toros is born in the Collio Friulano area in the locality of Novali near Gorizia. The winery has a long history with members of the family who have been engaged over time, passionate about viticulture and eager to enhance the beauty of the territory, aimed at producing excellent whites. Today, Franco is the one who manages the activity: the current winemaker, but a vintner of the past has been able to make constructive changes, modernizing the production techniques and taking care of the vineyard, respecting the growth and development times of the plants and the raw material. Today, the work in the winery is facilitated by the entry of daughters Eva, Cristina, and Erika and brother Renato, thanks to whom it is possible to continue looking towards the future of the work.
The vineyards of the Pinot Grigio from Toros are located in the municipality of Cormons in a hilly area situated at the north-eastern border of Italy with Slovenia. The solar exposure is optimal between the rows and provides excellent ripening to the grapes at the time of harvest. The microclimate here is ideal: continuous ventilation, significant temperature variations, and the chain of the Prelati Giulie that protects the vineyards from cold northern winds are fundamental elements for a perfect growing condition for the plants. The soil here consists of marly stone and layered sandstone, eroded over time by atmospheric agents, resulting in the presence of nutrients and minerals for a lush and welcoming terrain. The harvest is manual in the first days of September; in the winery, soft pressing occurs with a pneumatic press and alcoholic fermentation in steel. It ages for 7 months always in steel.
The color of the Pinot Grigio from Toros is a straw yellow with brilliant reflections. The aromas recall characteristic notes of toasted hazelnut, unripe yellow-fleshed fruit, and hay; on the palate, it is persistent, structured, elegant with good final freshness that invites you to drink glass after glass. It is recommended to pair with dishes based on seasonal vegetable soups, vegetarian dishes, grilled and roasted white meats, and mixed boiled meats.with sauces. Perfect to be enjoyed at the family Sunday table to accompany moments of carefree joy, savoring a wine typical of our tradition that recalls the authentic and genuine flavors of its land.
