Rossese di Dolceacqua Superiore Tenuta Anfosso 2021
The Rossese Dolceacqua from Tenuta Anfosso is a light and balanced red wine, harmonious and delicate. The bouquet is very expressive and evokes the Mediterranean scrub, licorice, and the wild fruits of the territory. The sip is soft and fresh, marked by a dynamic savory verve and smooth tannins.
The Rossese di Dolceacqua Superiore from Tenuta Anfosso is a dive between the Mediterranean Sea and the vine-covered slopes of Liguria. Tenuta Anfosso is located in the province of Imperia, on the western Riviera, the native land of Rossese, to which they have completely dedicated their passion and their lives. The vineyards wind along spectacular slopes, supported and divided by dry stone walls historically present in the family holdings, dating back to the 1800s. Some vines testify to the winemaking activity since 1888, the year in which Giacomo Anfosso completely replanted the Poggio Pini vineyard in Soldano.
The grapes of Tenuta Anfosso Rossese di Dolceacqua Superiore all come from vineyards located between Soldano and San Biagio della Cima, on the slopes leading down to the sea and enjoying favorable climatic conditions, caressed by the libeccio and the scirocco. The vines sink their roots into soils characterized by red marly and limestone soils, mixed with organic residues. Some plants are also over 30 years old and are cultivated using only copper and sulfur as herbicides. A part of the grapes does not undergo de-stemming, fermentation takes place with selected indigenous yeasts and the contact with the skins lasts 7/8 days. The subsequent aging of 9 months takes place in steel tanks.
The Rossese di Dolceacqua Superiore reveals the character of Tenuta Anfosso: rooted in tradition but with an eye to the future. The garnet red is gentle, soft. In the glass, the most intense note is that which recalls the Mediterranean scrub, with its aromas of aromatic herbs and plants that release menthol notes to the wind. There is also a hint of licorice and some small red forest fruits. On the palate, it is balanced, light, with good acidity and a savory finish that recalls the waves crashing on the Ligurian shores, in the incessant interaction between all the rich natural elements present in this small and incredible Italian region.
