Sauvignon Pierpaolo Pecorari 2024
The Sauvignon by Pierpaolo Pecorari is a white wine from Friuli Venezia Giulia capable of enhancing and valuing the most typical aromas of the grape variety: nuances of tropical fruit, intense sensations of yellow pepper and box flowers. On the palate, it is rich, soft, fresh and with good persistence, with vegetal hints.
The Sauvignon by Pierpaolo Pecorari is a version with good aromatic intensity and persistence of this famous and beloved French grape variety, which expresses absolute excellence in the Loire Valley. In the warmer climate of Friuli, it presents itself with a decidedly more Mediterranean face. The aromas open with the typical vegetal notes of tomato leaf and green pepper, soon giving way to a rich and ripe fruit with tropical nuances. On the palate, it offers persistent and broad aromas, well supported by freshness and a pleasantly savory finish.
The Sauvignon wine is born from the grapes of the vineyards that Pierpaolo Pecorari cultivates in his estate in the isontina plain, an area between Lucinico, Cormons, and Gradisca d'Isonzo, characterized by soils mainly composed of alluvial deposits of stones, pebbles, limestone, and sandstones, very rich in mineral substances. The climate is Mediterranean, quite warm and dry, mitigated by the breezes from the Adriatic. The Sauvignon Blanc vines have an average age of about 25 years and are trained in Guyot, with a low yield of 40.hectoliters/ha. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature and aging occurs for several months in stainless steel vats.
The Pierpaolo Pecorari Sauvignon is one of the most loved and appreciated wines for its natural and elegant aromaticity, combined with a lively freshness. The grape variety arrived in Friuli during the 19th century and adapted very well, finding soils and climate very suitable for its needs. The color is light straw yellow with subtle greenish reflections. On the nose, it expresses a good aromatic richness, with vegetal hints of green pepper, nettle, and tomato leaf, aromas of ripe white fruit, and notes of tropical fruit. The attack on the palate is of lively and taut freshness, which extends with voluptuous fruit towards a savory and mineral finish.
