Sforzato 'Corte di Cama' Mamete Prevostini 2022
The Sforzato of Valtellina "Corte di Cama" by Mamete Prevostini is a red wine made from Nebbiolo grapes, dried for 2 months to increase concentration, presenting itself with an elegant garnet red color with orange hues. It expresses enveloping aromas of dried flowers, vanilla, and cloves against a backdrop of spirit-soaked fruit, while on the palate it is full and velvety, with great body and elegant structure, complemented by vibrant and persistent freshness.
The Sforzato "Corte di Cama" from the Mamete Prevostini winery is a red wine of great thickness and intensity produced in Mese, in the province of Sondrio, in Valtellina. This label is made from pure Chiavennasca grapes, as the Nebbiolo grape is called in this area, coming from vineyards in the municipalities of Berbenno, Sondrio, Montagna, and Teglio located at an altitude between 350 and 500 meters. The vines are south-facing and are cultivated using the traditional guyot method on soils of shattered granite rock characterized by sandy-loamy soils. The winery is a modern and eco-sustainable family-run business, currently managed by Mamete Prevostini, who is also the president of the Valtellina wines protection consortium.
The "Corte di Cama" Sforzato is produced with grapes hand-picked in small crates around the beginning of October and left to dry naturally in the fruit room, a ventilated area on the highest floor of the winery, until mid-December. At this point, the bunches are ready to be destemmed and gently pressed to then carry out the alcoholic fermentation, using exclusively indigenous yeasts, in temperature-controlled stainless steel containers with a maceration on the skins of at least 18 days. This is followed by pressing in a wine press, after which the wine undergoes malolactic fermentation and remains in aging for about 18 months in oak barrels, before being bottled and maturing in the bottle for another 10 months before being put on the market.
The Sforzato "Corte di Cama" by Mamete Prevostini presents itself with a garnet red color with orange reflections. On the nose, aromas of ripe fruit and fruit in alcohol appear, including sour cherry and raisins, floral notes of dried flowers, and spicy hints of vanilla and cloves. On the palate, it is warm, velvety, powerful, and elegant, characterized by beautiful freshness and a long persistence. This wine from the Mamete Prevostini winery is a well-balanced red with great substance, which has been able to best interpret the Valtellina terroir.
