The Oltrepò Pavese Metodo Classico Pinot Nero Extra Brut Blanc de Noir ‘Gran Cuvée’ from the Travaglino estate effectively expresses the qualities of the Metodo Classico sparkling wines from Oltrepò Pavese based on Pinot Nero, appreciated for structure and broad taste-olfactory profile. The historical origins of the Travaglino estate date back almost 1,000 years, at least to November 18, 1111, when the testamentary act of the priest Gisulfo was published, in which the castle of Calvignano and the surrounding lands are mentioned, under the testimony of Johannis de Travalino. The official birth of the current winery dates back to 1868, when Cavalier Vincenzo Comi from Milan purchased the Travaglino villa with the surrounding lands.
The Metodo Classico Pinot Nero Oltrepò Pavese Blanc de Noir ‘Gran Cuvée’ Extra Brut by Travaglino is a 100% Pinot Nero from vines planted on clay-limestone soils on sandy marls, at an altitude between 250 and 300 meters above sea level with a southeast exposure. After harvest, the Bunches are vinified in white through soft pressing and the must obtained ferments in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature. Once ready, the sparkling base undergoes a second fermentation in the bottle according to the Metodo Classico, with aging on the lees lasting at least 36 months before disgorgement and Extra Brut dosage.
Travaglino ‘Gran Cuvée’ Oltrepò Pavese Metodo Classico Pinot Nero Blanc de Noir Extra Brut is straw yellow in color with fine and lasting bubbles. The aromatic bouquet expresses scents of dried fruit, citrus, and white flowers, enriched by fragrant sensations of bread crust. Rich, creamy, and enveloping sip, with a fresh and persistent finish supported by a pleasant savory-mineral vein.
