The Valtellina Superiore “La Cruus” is an intense, rich and structured red wine, born on the alpine slopes of the Inferno subzone Inferno and aged for 12 months in barrique. It is characterized by sensations of berries, oriental spices, roots and underbrush. On the palate it is full-bodied, elegant and fruity, with solid tannins.

Mamete Prevostini with its Valtellina Superiore Inferno “La Cruus” represents a benchmark for anyone wanting to savor the Chiavennasca, which is nothing more than the Nebbiolo integrated into the alpine context and the valleys of Valtellina. The “Cruus” is the youngest vineyard in the Inferno subzone, where the soils have a predominantly sandy structure with lower amounts of silt, elements that give the wines from this area a recognizable finesse and elegance.

The care and attention that the Mamete Prevostini winery puts into creating its Valtellina Superiore Inferno “La Cruus” is meticulous: during the harvest, the discovery of the slightest defect in a single grape leads to its elimination. Only such precise attention to detail can guarantee the highest quality of the final wine. Once in the winery, the bunches undergo a gentle destemming followed by a delicate crushing before being transferred into steel tanks, thus starting the alcoholic fermentation, characterized by a 15 days of maceration on the skins. The production process ends with maturation in oak barrels for about a year and the final refinement in the bottle for an additional 10 months.

With an electrifying ruby red, the “La Cruus” Valtellina Superiore Inferno by Mamete Prevostini presents itself on the nose with refined notes of marasca and cherry. Black pepper and a timid but clear hint of clove give further depth to this Lombard expression of Nebbiolo. A deep wine with an elegant structure, supported by a freshness and a mineral finesse that caress the palate and make its drinkability magnetic. Perfect when paired with local typical dishes, such as pizzoccheri with game sauce, it has an astonishing ability to evolve over the years.
